Individualized

Just as life is unpredicatable, so are the injuries we can suffer and overcome. It's because of this unfortunate diversity that Freeflo Physiotherapy offers a wide range of services and can optimize your recovery with the services we offer by taking an individualized approach.

Physiotherapy

Physical therapy is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention.

Physiotherapists play a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease. They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability.

The physiotherapists at Freeflo Physiotherapy and sports injuries center have advanced training in manual therapy, exercise prescription, taping/bracing, acupuncture, neural mobilization, and electrotherapeutic modalities allowing them to identify and treat the underlying cause of your specific injury. At Freeflo our Physiotherapists provide direct patient care.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. It is a clinically-oriented health option that achieves undeniable results in the relief of an array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes.

The massage therapists at FreeFlo Physiotherapy are regulated health professionals with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

Medical Acupuncture

At Freeflo Physiotherapy acupuncture is a treatment technique used by our physiotherapists to treat many painful disorders including back pain, neck pain, rotator cuff injuries, golfers elbow, tennis elbow and headaches to name a few. It is used to reduce pain, inflammation and muscular tension related to various injuries.

With medical acupuncture a fine, sterile, disposable needle is inserted into specific points along a muscle, nerve, tendon and/or fascia to stimulate a physiological response that aids in our bodies’ natural recovery process.

Our Physiotherapists use acupuncture as an effective adjunct to physiotherapy.

Manual Therapy

Physiotherapists who are members of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (CAMT) have completed extensive post-graduate education in "manual therapy", allowing them to treat complex movement disorders of the extremities and spine.

Physiotherapists with manual therapy expertise (CAMT) use hands-on treatment to restore joint range of motion, muscle function, and neural mobility. Manual therapy techniques include joint mobilization/manipulation, myofascial release, and neural mobilization among others.

A comprehensive manual therapy approach also relies heavily on physiotherapists' prescription of complimentary exercise to maintain the gains made during treatment.

Integrated Dry Needling

Dry needling is a therapeutic intervention that consists of inserting an acupuncture needle into muscle tissue, without the injection of a solution (Dry Needle), for the purpose of treating muscle pain and dysfunction.

The needle is inserted into a shortened muscle in order to help it relax, loosen and function better. The needle is directed toward tight bands that are often tender and referred to as ‘knots’. These “knots” are called trigger points and can feel ropey and are involved in many types of soft tissue pain. The goal is to elicit a twitch response within the muscle, which helps to release the tightness and relieve pain.

At Freeflo Physiotherapy, the Integrated Dry Needling™ (IDN) approach is safely combined with other common physiotherapy treatments, when appropriate, based on the results of a comprehensive examination.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy (SWT) can be used to treat an extensive range of musculoskeletal conditions, specifically those involving areas where connective tissue attaches to bone. Common sites that can be successfully treated are:

  • Increased pain with working
  • Rotator cuff tendinosis & calcification (shoulder)
  • Tennis or golfer’s elbow
  • Plantar Fasciitis, heel spurs & Achilles tendonitis
  • Trochanteric bursitis (Hip)
  • Patellar tendonitis, jumper’s knee, and shin pain
  • Trigger points in muscles
  • Stress fractures

The majority of patients with chronic pain problems have been through unsuccessful types of treatments. Up to 80% of the same patients worldwide report that Shockwave Therapy has helped them eliminate their problem.

Most indications require 3-5 treatments, which are done 3-10 days apart, depending on the patient’s tolerance and their tissue response. The cost per treatment is $100.

Generally patients will experience an immediate pain relief following the treatment. However, within 2-4 hours after the treatment, they may experience some soreness in the treated area. This soreness has been reported as tolerable and not limiting.
